How We Protect Young Athletes

Automated Content Moderation

Every piece of user-generated content on Piike passes through our AutoMod system before it is published. This includes comments, messages, bios, and clip titles.

• Profanity filtering — blocks inappropriate language, slurs, and sexually explicit terms with common substitution detection.
• Personal information protection — detects and removes phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses from public content.
• Link filtering — prevents external URLs in comments and public-facing content.
• Harassment detection — identifies threatening language and bullying and automatically escalates for admin review.

Content flagged as high severity is automatically reported and reviewed by our team within 24 hours.

Parental Controls

Parents and guardians can link their Piike account to their child's account to manage safety settings directly.

• Toggle access to clips, comments, direct messages, and video uploads.
• Maintain an approved-contacts list for DMs.
• View a sanitized activity log showing when messages and comments were made.
• All changes take effect immediately.

Protections for Minors

Users under 18 automatically receive enhanced protections:

• Direct messages are disabled by default for minors.
• Video uploads are disabled by default for minors.
• Group chats are disabled by default for minors.
• All content filters run at maximum strictness — phone numbers, emails, and links are blocked entirely, not just flagged.
• Parents can selectively enable features they are comfortable with.

COPPA Compliance

Piike complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). For users under 13:

• Verifiable parental consent is required before the child can access restricted features such as direct messaging, commenting, and video uploads.
• We collect only the minimum personal information necessary to provide the service.
• Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's personal information at any time by contacting us.
• The minimum age to create a Piike account is 10 years old.

How to Report Concerns

If you see something concerning on Piike, we want to know about it.

• In-app reporting — tap the report button on any clip, comment, or user profile to flag content for review. Reports involving minors are automatically escalated.
• Email — contact us at safety@piike.co with any safety concerns.
• U.S. Center for SafeSport — for concerns about abuse in sport, contact the U.S. Center for SafeSport at safesport.org or call their hotline at (720) 246-8111.

Community Guidelines

All Piike users are expected to follow our Community Guidelines, which prohibit harassment, hate speech, inappropriate content, and any behavior that puts athletes at risk.

Violations result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent banning depending on severity.
